Thrifty Sisty

                                           Thrifty Matrimony

If you are a twenty or thirty something year old, chances are you have at least 12 weddings to attend this summer. Ok, maybe not 12 but definitely more than 2. Even attending one wedding can get high up on the pricey scale pretty quickly. While it’s hard to skimp on things like hotel rooms and gifts, it is entirely possible to pay less for your outfit and still be the most stylish wedding guest.

Anna and I explored some new (to us) consignment and thrift stores around the North Shore and found some fabulous formal wear.  Receiving top marks was Rerun on Rantoul Street in Beverly. They have two racks devoted to fancy dresses and most seem to have been selected by someone with an eye for style. The Golden Hanger, also in Beverly, is an excellent place for shoes - lots of options in styles and sizes. The friendly Irish woman behind the counter is an added bonus. If you want to go for a funky vintage look, try Modern Millie in Salem. Vintage sizes can be tricky but it is worth poking around and checking out the fashion forward window displays. The Todd Farm flea market is an old favorite of the Sisties for unique bags and jewelry. Don’t forget to talk the price down a bit.

So eat some cake, drink some champagne and dance the Electric Slide knowing that you got a deal!
