Thrifty Sisty

                                                 Re-shirt

Part of being a Thrifty Sisty is not wanting to part with anything that has the tiniest sentimental value. If you’re like us, chances are that along with shoeboxes full of notes, ticket stubbs, pebbles, and pressed flowers in your closet, you have got a sizable t shirt collection. T shirts make wonderful mementos. I’ve saved tons from events like family vacations, summer camps, road races and Essex Clamfests. They all mean something to me yet only a small fraction make the cut to be actually worn. Most of those are only worn to bed. Recently, I’ve found a way to bring these much loved but neglected tees back out to the light of day.

You can “upcycle” your old tees into cool accessories. I am particularly taken with the t shirt necklace. Check out Teelightful on Etsy. They offer gorgeous, layered and beaded necklaces as well as scarves, bracelets, purses and pins. To use your own shirts, check out these easy to follow directions at Threadbanger. If you prefer your t shirt design to be more visible, try making a fun throw pillow.

Not everyone can bare to cut up their own precious tees, we understand. Just go to your local thrift store, find someone else’s old, neglected shirt and bring it back to life!
